Bisley Workwear's Womens Range

September 13, 2020

I thought id do a post to share with everyone about my experience working with Bisley Workwear to help create the new Women's Winterwear range of work clothes.

It all began in October 2018, I received a message via Instagram from Bisley asking what I thought about the current workwear situation for women in trades.
At this point id been working in trades for almost 2 years and had a fair few opinions about what was currently available and what id like to see. So I pretty much let loose with my thoughts on what I wanted, 4 massive messages later and I think I got across what I was after.

A few of the things I suggested for pants were the knee pad option, either built-in or to be able to add them into the pants if you need them, meaning no need for straps. A thicker waistband around the top paired with a slimmer leg and the elastic bottom. Along with fewer pockets. This was very 'Carpentry' specific as we, more often than not, have a tool belt on, so the pockets never get used anyway, fewer pockets = less bulky pants!

With the shirts, I've always loved the Bisley options, but here in New Zealand, it's not always compulsory to have shirts with collars. Personally, I find them too formal for work, so I suggested to have a shirt without a full collar as a new option. Plus all shirts to be a little longer and to have a scoop bottom so that when arms are lifted or bending over, they cover your mid-drift area.
Along with a tighter racerback singlet, as most current singlet options are for men so they always fall down at the front when you bent down.

Fast forward to August 2017 I headed over to Sydney thanks to Bisley and we got to check out the new range which had been developed after all our suggestions! We spent a full-on two days working from 6am - 6pm (when Toni doesn't sleep in and forget to pick us up) with Makeup, Wardrobe, Video, and Photographers to curate a full library of content for the new womenswear Campaign which you currently see before you today.
From this, we were able to take all the samples home with us to test out. Really give them hell and report back on anything that wasn't working for us, or with the garments.

I had a few things which I suggested, such as the side pockets didn't fit a large phone with a work size phone case, and for some reason, my fly always fell down (possibly sample ones). But other than this, these quickly became my favorite set or workwear from that day forward.

February 2020, the start of the Bisley Workwear Roadshow! Were going on tour!

Queenstown > Sydney
Sydney > Brisbane
Brisbane > Melbourne
Melbourne > Perth
Perth > Sydney > Queenstown

The roadshow events were to showcase the womenswear range along with the new men's winter range to workwear suppliers from each of the cities. We were able to chat with everyone who came and share our experiences with creating the range, how much input we had, and exactly how it works for US on site. It was an experience of a lifetime, and one ill always be grateful for.

The range which is now available is incredible.
From the higher waist of the pants to the larger thigh to waist ratio it fits my body how womens clothing SHOULD! Its not flaunting what we've got, its FITTING what we've got, just how mens clothing fits them, we now have stuff which fits us!
